Whether you are planning in the moment or through themes, this course will enable you to discover where mathematical opportunities already exist in your setting and how to make the most of them, in order to provide open-ended opportunities for exploration, investigation, and problem-solving across all areas of leaning.

This course will provide you with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to provide children with exciting mathematical opportunities, by enabling you to:

1. Understand the development of early mathematical concepts from birth
2. Examine the role of the adult in supporting and extending learning
3. Learn how to utilise different areas of provision to support problem-solving and develop critical thinking
4. Provide for the discovery of mathematical concepts in all areas of provision – inside and out
5. Actively engage in mathematical activities outdoors
6. Provide for exciting and engaging activities on a shoe-string budget
7. Discover the benefits of using loose materials to support mathematical concepts and problem solving
8. Implement a maths audit and action plan

This course will ensure your practice is in line with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage, The Early Years Framework and The Foundation Phase. It will also support your continuous professional development in line with the Early Years Teachers Standards.
