Health visitors are qualified nurses, who have been additionally trained to work with specific groups in the community. A social worker is a person qualified with a degree in social work and is employed by the local authority to perform various duties around keeping children safe. In your role, you will encounter both of these.

This course will cover what exactly health visitors and social worker do, respectively, and the responsibilities both of them have to support children.

The learning objectives for this course are as follows:

  1. To understand what a health visitor is
  2. To understand what a social worker is
  3. To learn about the responsibilities that come with both jobs
  4. To find out about the different ways that health visitors and social workers support people in their times of need
