Play is one of the most fundamental factors in the development of a child. Play is where children feel they are in control, where they are doing what they want, following their own line of thinking, and trying out their own actions and ideas. It is about being and feeling playful. Organising play to ensure that this autonomy is maintained, but ensuring development steps are also achieved, can be a very difficult task and must be done with great thought and skill.
This course will provide staff with the knowledge required to use play as the powerful developmental tool that it is. It will ensure that staff are fully aware of the theory behind play and provide them with practical techniques to get the most from it.
