Prolonged stress in young children can slow or even stop both brain development and physical growth. Prolonged exposure to cortisol released during the stress response can cause long-term damage to the developing brain and can negatively affect the immune system. Because of the possible negative impact, it’s key that you know how to deal with stress in your setting.
This course will look at what stress is and how it might affect a child or baby, as well as how you can identify abuse and make a referral.
