Personal, Social, and Emotional Development is recognised as one of the building blocks of success in life. It supports children’s development by helping them to interact effectively and develop positive attitudes to themselves and others. However, this does not happen in isolation and relies on influential adults such as parents and carers providing them with positive feedback and modelling appropriate behaviour. In the Revised EYFS, PSED is broken down into three aspects. They are self-confidence and self-awareness, managing feelings and behaviour, and making relationships.

This course will enable staff to fully understand both the PSED process and why it is so important to the development of an early years child. It will also give invaluable ideas, strategies, and techniques to ensure that PSED is an integral part of the curriculum and underpins core values.

The learning objectives for this course are as follows:

  1. To gain a deeper understanding of what PSED means
  2. To gain a deeper understanding of the child’s world and the factors that influence it
  3. To gain an understanding of the many features that are paramount to the child’s well-being and how these are interdependent upon each other
  4. To allow participants to get a sense of the fundamental areas that make up the whole child, which in turn, enables young children to flourish and to reach their full potential
  5. To enable practitioners to reflect on their knowledge and practice, and relate this to theory

This course ensures your practice is in line with the requirements of the Childcare Act 2006 (the Act), as amended by the Children and Families Act 2014. It will also support your continuous professional development and enable you to keep well informed and up-to-date with current practice.

Should you wish to discuss your training needs based on the children in your care, please call 0800 774 787.
