Food hygiene and safety is vital in an Early Years setting to ensure the health of both the staff and the young children. This course will enable Early Years practitioners to fully understand the most recent and up-to-date rules and regulations regarding food hygiene and safety.

It will cover the laws and legislation around food hygiene and safety as well as the process of maintaining a clean environment and equipment.

This course will look at:

  1. To know the law around food safety
  2. To be aware of food safety hazards
  3. To understand the importance of taking temperatures
  4. To understand refrigeration, cooling, and cold holding of foods
  5. To understand cooking, hot holding, and re-heating of foods
  6. To know the different types of food handlers
  7. To know the principles of safe food storage
  8. To understand the process of cleaning
  9. To know the processes around food premises and equipment

This course will ensure your practice is in line with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage, The Early Years Framework and The Foundation Phase. It will also support your continuous professional development in line with the Early Years Teachers Standards.
