The Characteristics of Effective Learning are described as the way that children learn. By identifying their motivation for learning, higher quality teaching and learning will take place. This is a switch to process over outcome, which is highly important when working with children in the early years, recognising that the attitudes about learning formed in the early years will last a lifetime. The early year's assessment process is key to supporting effective learning.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requires that parents and carers must be supplied with a short written summary of their child’s development in the three prime learning and development areas of the EYFS: Personal, Social, and Emotional Development when the child is aged between 24-36 months. This course will enable staff to fully understand their obligations regarding EYFS progress checks and will provide them with useful methods of baselining, measuring, and tracking to develop the child’s learning journey.
