Expressive Arts and Design (EAD) is one of the four specific areas of learning in the EYFS framework. The use of art and design can be one of the most powerful vehicles to develop creativity in children.

This course is aimed at giving you the tools to explore expressive art and design in early years; get in touch with your own creativity, develop ways of creating environments conducive to creative learning, and to enable your students to feel safe and confident in being more creatively expressive.

The learning objectives for this course are as follows:

  1. To enable the participants to gain insight into (EAD) Expressive Art and Design in Early Years
  2. To provide the participants with the opportunity to develop an understanding of the benefits and impact of EAD for pre-school children
  3. To provide the participants with the opportunity to develop their own EAD practice
  4. To enable the participants to learn and develop strategies to enable their students to feel confident engaging in EAD
  5. To enable the participants to explore strategies to help parents to facilitate their children’s EAD at home

This course ensures your practice is in line with the requirements of the Childcare Act 2006 (the Act), as amended by the Children and Families Act 2014. It will also support your continuous professional development and enable you to keep well informed and up-to-date with current practice.

Should you wish to discuss your training needs based on the children in your care, please call 0800 774 787.
