This course has never been more relevant, with recent reports saying that children as young as three years old are being hospitalised with eating disorders.

This course outlines, in depth, the various types of eating disorders that young people may suffer from, how to recognise these conditions and how to support young people. It also looks at the reasons why some young people may develop an eating disorder.



The learning objectives for this course are as follows:

  1. To understand the different types of eating disorders
  2. To be able to describe the different types of eating disorder and how they might present themselves
  3. To outline the assessment and management of eating disorders, particularly anorexia and bulimia nervosa, in Child Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)
  4. To discuss the role of Tier 1 professionals and how to refer to CAMHS
  5. To explore the various support tools for young people in relation to eating disorders


This course will ensure your practice is in line with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage, The Early Years Framework and The Foundation Phase. It will also support your continuous professional development in line with the Early Years Teachers Standards.
