A child between 0 and 5 develops at an extraordinary pace. This journey of sensory discovery is peppered with exciting, and at times overwhelming, new sensations and follows specific developmental milestones. These are a huge focus for both practitioners and parents. Each stage is unique to the child and brings with it more risks and challenge. As well as using the EYFS as a guide in assessing and planning for sensory milestones, child development also has to be considered.

This course is designed for all early years staff and will enable them to effectively understand the developmental phases and how they can support them.

The learning objectives for this course are as follows:

  1. To understand the importance of children developing sensory skills early on
  2. To understand what sensory skills are
  3. To learn about how sensory skills can be improved in the early years of a child’s life
  4. To understand the impact on a child’s life if their sensory skills are underdeveloped

This course will ensure your practice is in line with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage, The Early Years Framework and The Foundation Phase. It will also support your continuous professional development in line with the Early Years Teachers Standards.

Should you wish to discuss your needs before accessing the course, please call 0800 774 7874.
