Your child's experiences in the early months and years of life affect their health, well-being and coping skills right up until they become adults. Your caring, nurturing, and safe parenting will help ensure your baby’s optimal development. Watch and listen to your baby to learn what your baby wants or needs. Your baby will give you cues to help you know what they are saying. During the toddler years, your child will grow and learn rapidly.

This course will enable staff to fully understand the developmental milestones and ways to support the development of children in their most influential stages.

The learning objectives for this course are as follows:

  1. To understand the key areas of development from birth to three years old
  2. To identify the basics of brain development and the impact that adults can have
  3. To identify developmental milestones
  4. To observe, plan for and track developmental stages
  5. To understand the importance of attachment

This course will ensure your practice is in line with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage, The Early Years Framework and The Foundation Phase. It will also support your continuous professional development in line with the Early Years Teachers Standards.
